Swag
Swag is part memoir fragment, part automatic-writing, typed and used in one of many explorations of images and words placed together without an obvious, explicit relationship. The cut pieces of collage and typed words coalesce with their own unpremeditated logic. The somewhat elusive objective is to create a third piece out of the two parts, neither of which can exist without the other. Using suggestive, anthropomorphic forms, and a free-form typewritten text, these accidental experiments are left open to subjective interpretation. Text is written by the artist.
Although not part of a series, the three subsequent images were also created using the same automatic method, allowing accident and intuition to inform the making.
