Mercuries #1: Sculptural poetry

I'm interested in three dimensions and poetry, and what we might term sculptural poetry. Why is language two-dimensional when it is objective material? Why does this bleed into what we take the social engagement of reading, and speaking, to be? The head, the mouth, the tongue, the ears: objects in the world.

In this performance, in the most gentle manner, I wanted to steal from the narrative expectation of a literary reading, and enter a concrete three dimensional piece of literature, with a sense of humour that might be specifically gesturing to, or against, where I was: Germany.

The performance was part of Klang Farben Text, held at the Lyrik Kabinett in Munich, March 2020, supported by the British Council.
