Contemporary American poetry: A selection
Dear Mercurius friends, today I invite you on a journey through the different voices of contemporary American poetry, all of them published online via the music platform Spotify.
Since my first trip to America in 2014, I have been compiling an important collection of voices that aspires to collate the best of the American lyrical poets active today.
My recordings include: Charles Simic, Gail Mazur, Marie Howe, Peter Balakian, Robert Hass, Eileen Myles, Joy Harjo, Robert Pinsky, Sharon Olds, Edward Hirsch, Fanny Howe, Shara McCallum, Forrest Gander, Rita Dove, Sophie Cabot Black, Ishion Hutchinson, Gabeba Baderoon and Billy Collins.
When these voices enter our ears, they whisper forests, seas, silences, dreams and paths. I wish now to extend their invitations to all Mercurius readers. In these times of confinement, may we find freedom in poetry.
