Surreal-Absurd Sampler Chrissy Williams

This week we have some LA absurd-surrealism from the poet Chrissy Williams. Here is her artist statement:

These poems connect familiar friendly symbols with a kind of melancholy. I think absurdity connects us with truth in a direct but also enjoyable way – we cry tears with both sadness and laughter. Even cheerfulness is absurd, if you ask me. But I always want to look for some kind of route to laughter, because think of the alternative.

Chrissy Williams is a poet, editor and tutor based in London, UK. Her work has been featured by the BBC and her first collection BEAR (Bloodaxe, 2017) was one of the Telegraph’s 50 Best Books of the Year.
