Surreal-Absurd Sampler Patricia Farrell
Continuing our linguistically innovative thread, this week we have Patricia Farrell. Her work is procedural. Absurd. Bodily.
Enjoy!
Patricia Farrell is a poet and visual artist. Her most recent publication is High Cut: My Model of No Criteria (Leafe Press). Her collection Logic for Little Girls is forthcoming from Knives Forks and Spoons.

It is difficult when things are rare
pinching my skin
wrapping each finger enough to get my head out
by wrapping a hand in reverse
is a slow process
playing on foot by cleaning my leg
touching my dancing hands like a robot
back walking
that I don't feel too sorry for
but I know the cold that's hitting me
was hitting my face to the claws
approaching my skin
here that I love to tie
my hair will sometimes start rambling in German
or singing along certain songs
and squeezing my ear lobes
to beat my leg up and down with my foot
to the rhythm of the ground
or I'm just alone
putting my hands around my neck
is an effort to remove invisible hands
from my hands that are never in use
by holding that
it never stops
I never even have a pattern
squeezing the tips of my fingers until I feel in balance
ii
If I have taken this step
I wish to watch the movements
I know I never tires
all the best things are as difficult as they are
I would like these words with an expert or an expert
to think
I'll eat nothing but from the words
or the power of my mind
I is hard to head in a corner
to keep an eye upon
but I am not suffering from words
or not the power of my phrase
I have already spoken
to what I have seen
I can spin me into wrapping thread
wind me round my little finger
a good situation will place me on the shelf
or at least the promise of one
whether the recorder was the author is the question
I have no idea
what an amiable creature I am
when I put on the English to make myself
around my ground
finger in my hand in some cases
from a strap tied at the foot of the Earth
to prevent it from flying away
that is a good start thank you
iii
If all the people in the world are shadows
and the misuse of a miracle
then I will recommend a shock
complete with striking stuff
for those who can't
confirm they are allowed to talk
behind the sloppy glass
or lack the arm of coding feet to be a hit
make every laugh
skyrocket
back-to-side side
mirror across the airwaves
it is better than the definition
better than help
